This is a blog about the long, strange trip IPv6 is taking to find its place in the Internet world. The Internet Protocol provides the fundamental connectivity of the Internet, but the transition from Internet Protocol version 4 to version 6, which is widely accepted as essential and unavoidable, is taking its own sweet time. But as we reach the point of no more IPv4, with IPv6 both unavoidable and yet somehow widely avoided, there’s some pretty interesting things happening.
