Hands-on IPv6 Workshop

NOTE: limited places available. Due to demand we are now holding two workshops presenting the same material.

The workshops are for people who wish to develop an understanding of IPv6 in practice. Each item will include practical exercises. In one day we cannot cover everything, but attendees should come away with a practical understanding of the topics covered.

The workshops will be help in dedicated PC training rooms at Cliftons, 1/440 Collins Street Melbourne. This is a few minutes walk from the Rendezvous Hotel, the venue for the following two-day IPv6 Summit.

The workshops will be presented by Karl Auer, Technical Manager IPv6Now, and Michael Biber, Professional Services Manager IPv6Now.

Course Outline

  • IPv6 addresses (representation, structure)
  • IPv6 packet format
  • Multicast
  • Autoconfiguration
  • DHCPv6
  • DNS and IPv6
  • Transition techniques, including IPv6 tunnels
  • Looking at the IPv6 Internet
  • Any other topics of interest to the group (time permitting)
Click here to register online for the Workshop.

The class starts at 9.00am and runs until 5.00pm. There will be lunch and refreshments, and brief breaks between major sections to aid concentration.

Attendees do not need to bring along their own laptops, but are welcome to do so. Attendees with their own laptops will need full administrative rights to install software and modify network settings. Linux, *BSD, Vista or Windows 7 are the preferred operating systems for this workshop - OSX and Windows XP have poor IPv6 support.
